Welcome to the Cango
Wildlife Ranch and Valley of Ancients, endangered species
breeding facility extraordinaire. The oldest and biggest cheetah
contact centre worldwide offers visitors the rare opportunity
of interacting with our hand reared cheetahs and getting actively
involved in saving this species and others from extinction.
We invite you and the
whole family to pay us a visit and explore the facts and fiction
surrounding crocodiles, view elegant cheetahs and giggle at
the antics of our Bengal tiger cubs. For the adventurous we
offer face to face encounters with wildlife in our Natural
Encounters programe where you can touch a cheetah, enjoy the
closeness of a tiger cub, wrap yourself in a python and even
dive with Nile crocodiles.
Without you, the visitor,
facilities like the Cango Wildlife Ranch would not be possible
and without facilities like ours, wildlife will become yet
another issue we wished we had paid more attention to when
it was still possible.
Run the race against
extinction with us whilst having the time of you life –
Welcome to Cango Wildlife Ranch the conservation heart of
the Little Karoo!
Guided tours at the Ranch now commence at the entrance of
the impressive Zimbakwe Temple Ruins from where you will journey
into a thrilling tropical exhibit. Your first view being that
of an under water viewing tank filled with rainbow colored
cichlids, baby crocodiles and peculiar terrapins. The tank’s
theming takes the shape of a giant sacrificial pool where
the ancients performed human sacrifices to their River god.
The tropical house will allow you to walk freely amongst animals
such as shy duiker, giant flying foxes and birds of paradise.
A raised wooden walkway will tempt you to move onto the Malawian
forest exhibit with its beautifully colored Red river hogs
and giant Nile monitors after which you can view Cape griffon
vultures nesting against a cliff face in their brand new home
accompanied by Malcolm and Lyons, our resident Marabou storks.
The ring-tailed lemurs now totaling five adults and three
youngsters, Snapper Gorge and the Croc Cage Diving pool, Pygmy
Hippo village, otter waterfall, new arrivals the two Southern
Ground Hornbills and the Jumping Jaws pool complete the Valley
of Ancients tour.
Cheetahland will round
off your tour where you can meander along a raised wooden
walkway and have a birds eye view of cheetah, white lion cubs,
jaguar, fully grown lions and experience the only Tiger presentation
in Africa with our magnificent white tigers.
Due to a huge demand for a family friendly facility, the Cango
Wildlife Ranch took the giant step in ensuring our facility
is the most child-friendly attraction along the entire Garden
Route with the designing and construction of a children’s
water and play park.
A splash park with water jets and jumping jewels was created
and supplied for the first time in Africa by a manufacturer
in the United States, making this the only one of its kind
in South Africa. Along with the splash park the kidszone has
two giant 6m high fun fortresses, with rope ladders, a climbing
wall and a 6 meter slide, a jumping castle, roundabouts and
water canons, completing the experience for the older kids.
Additionally a specially designed and imported Tiny Tots area
was developed for the little ones with your toddler’s
safety in mind. Combine all of this with phenomenal family
fun as well as a petting zoo where both young and old can
meet their favorite farmyard animal and you have a play park
as unique as the Ranch itself.
The Cango Wildlife Ranch & Valley of Ancients is open
daily including Christmas Day and New Years Day from 08:00
with the last tour of the day departing
at 17:00.
Bring your relatives and even your in-laws and make this December
one they will never forget!
