Witsand
Witsand
is a beautiful small village in South Africa
that lies on St Sebastian Bay. St Sebastian Bay on the Cape South
Coast is by far the most important nursery area for Southern Right
Whales on the Garden Route Coast of South
Africa, adding a little extra to the existing Big
5 Safaris included in some of our South Africa
Garden Route Tours.
Aerial
surveys indicates that the Right Whale cow-half pairs in St Sebastian
Bay may be the largest assemblage in the world, with the possible
exception of the Peninsula Valdes region of Argentina.
As
Witsand is only a 3 hour drive from Cape Town it is a welcome
stop on our Garden Route Tours. From here visitors
are within easy reach of the Malgas Pont, De Hoop Nature Reserve,
Heidelberg, Swellendam, the Bontebok Park, Barrydale, Ashton,
Robertson Wine Route and Montague before moving onto the greater
Garden Route area to explore more of South
Africa and Big 5 Safaris.
