-Schotia Safaris
Schotia Safaris is the oldest private Game viewing reserve in the Eastern Cape, bordering on the eastern side of the famous Addo Elephant National park.

This malaria-free reserve is probably the most densely stocked reserve in Africa with over 40 mammal species and approximately 2000 animals. Schotia was the first reserve in the Cape Province to have FREE roaming lions. Lion sightings are guaranteed on the afternoon Game drive - known as the TOOTH and CLAW game drive.

The reserve is owned, managed and run by the owners, The Bean family. They are now the sixth generation and have owned the original farm since the early 1800's. The Bean family today has 22 years of experience in the Safari business and have created a very unique, relaxed and truly SOUTH AFRICAN experience at Schotia.

Schotia has a huge open air lapa, reputedly the largest in South Africa. It has reed and sneeze-wood walls and is open to disguise, except for the outer edge where the dining tables are arranged. This outer ring is covered in thatch. Inside the lapa there are several huge Schotia trees and a log fire. Dinner is usually a mix of Safari cuisine and traditional South African cooking. The menu depends on what is available the day.
