Thirty minutes from Cape Town, lie the Winelands, a haven of gracious white-gabled farmsteads evoking a rich heritage. Nothing compares to sampling, firsthand, the result of an art distilled to perfection over centuries, and every estate we visit will invite you to indulge in the fruits of its people's labour.
Traveling towards Stellenbosch, we first visit Spier Estate (1692) to also see one of the best classical Cape-Dutch Buildings in this area. We travel to Blaauwklippen to enjoy a cellar tour at 11h00, followed by the first winetasting for the day.
Our next stop is in Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, and also the wine capital of South Africa. We explore the historic "Dorp Street" and pop into "Oom Samie se Winkel" for 'n taste of "ou wêreldse" (old world) shopping before we leave Stellenbosch. From here we head for the charming town of Franschhoek, set in a protected valley surrounded by breathtaking mountains. Franschhoek was granted to the French Huguenots who arrived in 1688.
Travel ling towards Paarl, we visit Fairview where we sample some of the finest wines and the superb selection of goat's milk cheeses, produced on this farm. From here we head back to your Cape Town Hotel or Guest House.
